For our first installment, we’re exploring the technology that sets the TM-B apart from other e-bike brands. And even though we could write a full novel on the subject, we’ve decided to keep things internet-friendly by narrowing it down to four favorite technology features.
In this article, we’ll dive into the tech features that make the TM-B stand out:
Unlike other bikes and e-bikes, there’s no direct mechanical connection between its pedals and rear wheel. DreamRide, its software-defined drive unit, is what makes the bike go, not gears or chains. In fact, we named it DreamRide because it literally delivers the ride of your dreams, effortlessly simulating any gear scenario a traditional bike can, and then some.
Thanks to DreamRide, riding the TM-B can be as easy or challenging as you want, depending on your mood. Choose a high-assist level in the morning to show up to work sweat-free, a low-assist level for the ride home to sneak in a little workout, or anything in between.
Most road-dwelling e-bikes don’t have full suspension. And honestly, we can’t wrap our heads around why. At the high speeds some of the fastest e-bikes can reach, suspension (which absorbs impact and gives you more traction and control) is crucial for comfort and safety.
The TM-B is capable of assisted speeds up to 28 mph. So, we designed it with full suspension, making it more than just a commuter e-bike. With modern trail bike geometry (and what’s effectively a high-pivot suspension), it not only performs flawlessly on regular roads, but can comfortably and safely venture off-road, too.
Pro tips: For the best off-road performance, choose the All Terrain package, and always follow posted speed limits and trail rules when riding it.
Electric or not, buying a bike has always been about compromise. You have to choose between a bike that offers a comfortable ride, high performance, or the most carrying capacity (no bike has it all!). But thanks to the swappable Top Frame ecosystem, you can move between three distinct seating configurations—within seconds and without tools—giving you the versatility for any ride you have planned.
Think of the TM-B as a foundation. Then, as your interests, needs, and even style evolve, its modular Top Frames can effectively transform it into three different bikes—the Solo Top Frame is great for active riding and commuting, the Bench Top Frame gives extra style and cushioned comfort, and the Utility Top Frame transforms it into a cargo e-bike.
This ability to shape-shift makes it unlike anything else on the market, especially considering you can swap out the Top Frames faster than you can change your shoes.
The Portal, TM-B’s hi-res touchscreen display, creates a truly connected experience for the rider, weaving together features you’d expect from a modern electric vehicle, not a bike.
Built entirely from scratch, the Portal has its own operating system. With no lag or compromise, it’s engineered to boot quickly, dial in your ride with just a few taps of the finger, and makes it extremely difficult to steal, resulting in an intuitive, seamless, and genuinely fun ride.
And through its connectivity, the Portal gives riders a modern convenience other e-bikes can’t—riders can input their destination on the ALSO app and pick between a variety of routes to display turn-by-turn navigation directly on the Portal. This allows riders to keep their phones securely stashed away when navigating and both hands on the handlebars, where they belong.
