Welcome to the second installment of TM-B: Seeing Deeper, the six part series in which we give you a closer look at the ideas and innovation behind the TM-B, plus an insider POV on our favorite features.
This week, we’re talking all about design philosophy, including the objectives that inspired the TM-B, the resulting experience for the rider, and a few aesthetic details we can’t stop obsessing over.

When designing what would eventually become the TM-B, our guiding North Star was to create the world’s best riding experience. And to do that, we had to start from a blank page.
No iterating on existing bikes or ebikes. No afterthoughts bolted on. No tweaks here and there.
Because when design centers around the rider experience first, you end up building something intentionally crafted to solve real human pain points and unlock real human potential. And that is precisely how we designed the TM-B at every possible touchpoint.

At ALSO, we’re not innovating for the sake of innovation. Instead, we’re developing breakthrough technologies that are necessary to create the riding and ownership experience that we want TM-B to unlock.
The TM-B Portal is a great example of this design philosophy at work. Navigating on a bike has always involved pulling out your phone or relying on an external GPS with unintuitive controls—neither are great experiences. So we designed the Portal from scratch, with its own operating system, to make the navigation experience seamless for the rider.

We know it’s taboo to single out your favorite child. But we’re all about rewriting the rules, so let’s talk about it.
Some of our favorite aesthetic features are the transparent side covers on the TM-B Performance and Launch Editions, for a couple reasons. First, they embody the see deeper mindset, allowing riders to connect with the bike on a whole new level. Second, they remind us of our most cherished objects from eras gone by, like Gameboys and see-through phones.
You may be thinking, “that’s kid stuff.” But to us, riding a TM-B isn’t just about getting places, it’s about introducing joy into our everyday routines. And that means letting our inner child ride shotgun everywhere we go.

As you’re likely aware, ALSO started as a top secret Rivian side project before self-actualizing into a fully independent brand. That said, we know the value of honoring our roots. And you can see those roots—all 1500 lumens of them—in the TM-B headlight, which pays subtle homage to Rivian’s iconic headlight design.
Thanks for riding along on this week’s installment of TM-B: Seeing Deeper. We’ll catch you next week, when we explore all things TM-B motor.
