Chapter 01

Setup

Fit and Suspension

A bike that fits feels good, and isn’t that what this is all about? No aches, no discomfort, just free ‘n’ easy riding. The longer you’re in the saddle, the more apparent fit will be.

Bad Fit Seat too low, knees riding high, back hunched—legs doing extra work.

Good Fit Seat at perfect height, legs slightly bent, posture relaxed—riding feels effortless.

It sounds simple and intuitive, but the perfect fit can take some tinkering to find. Trust the process, only make small adjustments each time, and you’ll have your Cinderella moment.

Start here and in this order:

Seat height

Too low and your knees stay bent; too high and you rock to reach the pedals. Aim for a slight bend at the bottom of the stroke.

Handlebar angle

Small rotations change how upright you sit. Dial the bars until your shoulders stay soft and your wrists feel neutral.

Suspension

Set sag for your weight. If the ride feels harsh or wallowy, a few clicks of preload make a big difference.

If something still feels off after a few rides, don't just live with it. A good local bike shop (or one of our certified service providers) can help you dial in fit. Sometimes a second set of eyes is all it takes.

Top Frame note: Seat adjustments only apply to Solo and Utility Top Frames. Bench Top Frame is one size fits all.

Top Frames

The Modular Top Frame System is one of TM-B’s most innovative features. It enables you to change your bike entirely, turning one into three: Solo, Utility, and Bench. And you can swap among them in under three seconds, no tools required. Three bikes, three seconds…three.

To remove: Make sure the bike is unlocked and in Walk. Swipe down from the top of the Portal and tap the button to eject. Wait for the Portal to confirm it's safe to remove, then lift the Top Frame straight off.

To install: Front goes in first. Think of it like putting a shoe on your foot: toe in, then lower the heel. Hold it in place for a moment for your bike to detect it and it’ll lock it in place.

CHAPTER 02

Riding

Cadence

This one’s a little heady, so stick with us.

On a regular bike, you shift gears to match the road. On TM-B, it’s kind of the opposite. You set a pedaling rhythm and DreamRide reacts to the road for you. Hill coming? Your bike adjusts so you don’t have to. You? As you were—just keep on spinning.

Cadence is how fast you choose to spin. In other words, your pedaling speed, measured in pedal rotations per minute. Typically, this is a number you’ll set and forget, unless you really want something different out of your ride.

TM-B defaults to 60 RPM—a comfortable rate for most riders. For context, a pro rider’s cadence is typically in the range of 90-105 RPM! Start at 60 and feel it out.

If you want to change things up, you can adjust cadence directly from the Portal. A higher cadence means faster leg turnover and a more active, energetic ride. Lower means slower, more deliberate pedaling—easier on the legs, good for longer hauls. Small adjustments make a bigger difference than you’d expect.

Cadence is one variable among many that impacts your riding speed. For the intrepid among us, visit the Owner’s Guide for further reading. Watch out—it can be a bit of a rabbit hole!

Auto/Manual

Your TM-B is equipped with two “transmissions”—auto and manual. We put it in quotes because it’s all software-defined, but your car transmission offers a helpful way to think about it.
In auto, which is the default, you choose your cadence and the bike will adapt to the road to maintain it. Manual mirrors the experience of choosing gears on a traditional bike, though with none of the sticking, slipping, or lag time (again, because the gears are all software-defined).

Try ’em both out. While auto will likely remain the go-to for most, it’s fun to really take the reins every once in a while in manual!

Ride Modes

If Top Frames change your bike into a new person entirely, Ride Modes are kind of like mood changes, subtly but powerfully impacting the character of your ride. Your TM-B has four different Ride Modes, and you can toggle among them with just a few taps on the Portal.

Try ‘em all out. See how your bike responds when you unleash the beasts within.

Assist and Assist Boost

Assist is the extra juice the TM-B doles out to your pedal stroke. Think of it as extra sets of legs. TM-B gives you five more sets, for 5x, and TM-B Performance and Launch Edition give you ten, or 10x. That’s lots of legs.

If you’re looking for a little extra oomph, look no further than the assist boost lever located by your right thumb. Hold it down while pedaling to temporarily increase your assist level (or, to really squeeze the metaphor, extra sets of legs).

CHAPTER 03

Software

The Portal and the App

Whether you’re on- or off-bike, the Portal and ALSO App tag-team ensure you’re always in command.

Starting off-bike, the ALSO App is for all things TM-B when you’re not actually on your TM-B. Before you ride, plan your route or update your software. After, check your charge or get security alerts. You can also name and re-name a cool mini version of your TM-B anytime you like.

On-bike, it’s all about the Portal, your mission control and live interface with TM-B. Here’s some more detail on each of your screens:

Ride

Kind of like a car’s main instrument panel, the Ride screen displays vital ride data like speed, assist level, and battery charge. It also displays an icon to indicate your Ride Mode, and a nifty meter that gauges energy input (pedaling, regen) and output (battery charge).

Activity

Dials for miles, and more. Here’s where you’re able to dig a little deeper into your ride analytics. Keep tabs on miles covered, energy input, and battery range. We plan to make this screen customizable with additional metrics with an OTA.

Navigation

Not only is it a pain to have to whip out your phone to make sure you’re on track, it’s straight up unsafe. We built this feature in so that you can keep your phone stowed, and your eyes on the road. Simply cue up your route in the ALSO App, and let your TM-B lead the way. When you’re not actively navigating a route, Navigation will display your current street.

Quick Controls

Swipe down to access Quick Controls from any of the previous three screens. These are your on-the-fly DreamRide adjustments. Toggle between Auto and Manual transmissions, adjust your Cadence and Assist levels, and change your Ride Mode all from the Quick Controls screen.

CHAPTER 04

Charging

Charging

There are two ways to charge your TM-B. The best way for you will depend on when and where you choose to do your charging.

Plug in your bike.

Push up on the round cover on the frame to access the USB-C port, plug in, and walk away. Good for when your bike lives near an outlet.

Plug in your battery.

Eject it via the Portal, carry it inside, plug it in wherever’s convenient—kitchen counter, office desk, you name it. Good for apartment dwellers or for when you’re charging on-the-go.

Either way, for regular use, you’ll likely want to charge your bike every night after you’re done riding. Here’s roughly how long you’re looking at from 0 to 80%:

  • Standard Battery — about 1.8 hours
  • Large Battery — about 2.25 hours

Cold weather note: In cooler weather (between 32–50°F), your battery charges as normal but won’t go above 80%. Any colder than that and charging could damage your battery. Best to bring it inside to charge.

Battery

Your battery is removable, and, whether or not you plan to charge your bike this way, it’s worth knowing how to remove it—if only to hold it up, smile, and admire its elemental and innately satisfying contours.
A couple performance related call-outs:

Range isn’t a fixed number. Terrain, assist level, rider weight, tire type, and whether you’re charging devices off the battery all play a role. The more you ride, the better the software gets at estimating your range.

If you run down your charge, your bike enters Get Home Mode. In this mode, your pedaling generates just enough power to keep things moving. You’ll get home, but next time you’ll make sure you’re charged up.

CHAPTER 05

Security

Locking/
Unlocking

TM-B has been known to make bike thieves reflect deeply on their life choices. When you lock your TM-B, it really locks—battery, top frame, and rear wheel. In a way, it transforms from bike to brick.

Here’s how you do it:

Swipe the lock icon on the Portal display to lock or unlock. You can also set a PIN for an extra layer of security. Configure that in the app.

One thing worth knowing: a PIN reset requires that your phone be within Bluetooth range. If you're troubleshooting this feature, that's the first thing to check.
