So why did we start Also?

This is how I start almost every day—taking my kid to school, saying 'hi' to friends and neighbors along the way. It’s one of my favorite moments because it’s one of the few times when I can be fully present—not focused on a screen or a to-do list or anything other than the road in front of me, the wind in my face and the time the two of us have together.

It sounds simple because it is. It’s about being in the moment, out-in and in-tune with the world around you.

That same feeling is what’s behind Also.

It’s why a small group of us came together at Rivian a few years ago and started talking about something entirely new.

The Also team introduced ourselves to the world last week and in the days since I’ve seen a lot of people speculating about what we’re building, about the opportunity they see—or don’t see. Regardless, there’s been one common theme: people are hungry for more compelling small modes.

I know we’re being coy about exactly what we’re making right now—and we’re going to be that way for at least a little bit longer—but what I can tell you is that we’re building something entirely new and entirely different than what anyone has seen before.

What we’re building is easy, intuitive, and tech-enabled in all the right ways. It’s a joy in the most childlike sense. That approach, and the innovation at its core, means we’re going to be creating inviting and exciting first-time experiences which we hope will inspire a transition to a multi-modal electric transportation future.
